Let’s Talk About Color: 7 Tools to Use
2022.02.14
Color is all around us and it enhances the world around us. As designers, we customarily use color to express deep meaning and invoke emotion. Let’s take a look at 7 color tools that can enhance your workflow.
1: Coolors
Coolors is by far my favorite color tool because of the range of tools it has for making color pallets. In addition, to a traditional, pallet maker tool, we as designers have come to expect. Additionally offers tools to make pallets from images, gradient pallets, gradient maker, and has a color contrast checker. Additionally, I appreciate that Coolors lets you explore pallets others have created as these pallets can inspire your own projects.
2: Sip
Sip is a pallet-making tool. What’s special about Sip is its mobile iOS app. This tool utilizes your phone’s camera to capture colors from the world around you. Additionally, Sip provides a more advanced app for your computer that you can purchase.
3: Adobe Color CC
Adobe Color is an advanced power tool and probably the most efficient tool for Adobe Creative Cloud users because of its seamless integration with their line of products. What’s great about this tool is you can mix your own pallets and save them to your Adobe account for future use through the libraries. Additionally, you can explore pallets made by other users and discover trends. It’s definitely a fun way to explore color.

4: HTML-Color-Codes.info
HTML Color Codes offers several practical tools but the one tool that really stands out is their Colors from Image tool which allows you to upload an image and select a color from that image and get its hex code information which is super helpful when you want to capture that perfect color you found.
5: Color-Hex
Color-hex is a place to discover and be inspired by colors. Its home page displays a list of colors that are trending amongst users. Although Hex code is the primary focus of colors on this site you can also select a swatch to receive an abundance of color information.
6: HTML Color Codes.com
Another great color tool especially if you work primarily with Hex or RGB. The site offers a few tools like a Hex to RGB and vice versa conversion tool. However, it is the color picker that is really worth taking for a spin. Either enter your color code or pick one from the color gradient and select your color grouping such as complementary, analogous, or triadic to name a few.
7: NO-BS Marketplace Colour Converter Tool
Finally, the last tool on our list is NO-BS Marketing’s Color Converter Tool. This ordinary tool is ideal to convert any RGB colors to HEX or vice versa for use in web design fast and easy.
